WorkSource Mobile Access Point Van - one of the WorkSource services working hard at assisting jobseekers Florida’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for October 2009 was reported at 11.2 percent. According to the Agency for Workforce Innovation, this represents 1,027,000 jobless out of a labor force of 9,175,000. The unemployment rate is up 4.3 percentage point from October 2008 rate.

Extended Unemployment Benefits
Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009

On Friday, November 6, President Obama passed the Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009. The new law creates up to 20 additional weeks of Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) for thousands of Floridians who have exhausted all benefits or will by the end of the year.
