During the current recession, unemployment in our region has almost doubled. So has the number of jobseekers in WorkSource’s system. WorkSource needed to find a way to bring jobseekers and employers together with the least amount of travel and down time from other important activities.

HELPING FIRST COAST EMPLOYEES GET FINANCIALLY FIT

Each year, WorkSource partners with the RealSense Prosperity Campaign to provide free income tax preparation services for individuals eligible to file for the Earned Income Tax Credit. This year, with many families suffering the effects of the recession, RealSense is placing a strong emphasis on financial education.
As many employers implement cost-saving strategies to keep their businesses afloat, there is a new, free service they can offer employees to help stretch their take home pay. Through on-site, employer-based financial education classes, United Way’s Real$ense Prosperity Campaign is providing First Coast employers free financial education sessions that help employees maintain financial stability.

AWI Recognizes Workforce Partners for
Outstanding Services to Veterans

The Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI) recognized three One-Stop Career Centers, operated by Florida’s Regional Workforce Boards, for providing outstanding services to more than 172,000 veterans over the past year. WorkSource Career Center, Workforce Alliance and the Florida Crown Workforce Career Center each received $29,416.
