The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 was created to provide immediate funding to projects and programs that help job seekers get back in the workforce. Mobile Access Points is one of those programs that received additional funds to help connect local citizens to available work and training opportunities.

Van Royal Elected Chair of Regional Workforce Board

Clay County businessman Van Royal was recently elected as chairman of WorkSource (First Coast Workforce Development, Inc.). Royal has served on the WorkSource board of directors since 1999. He was unanimously elected by the 33-member regional workforce development board, consisting primarily of private business owners. Royal previously served as the board’s Secretary/Treasurer.

American Legion Recognizes Southpoint Career Center Staff
Two 2008 Awards for Excellent Service to Veterans
WorkSource offers resources for veterans transitioning from military to civilian employment. Services are provided by Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) who also deal with employers who want to hire veterans, and Disabled veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) staff who work solely with the disabled veteran population.
American Legion recognized Disabilities Veterans Outreach Program representative Darryl Moore as recipient of the 2008 Disabled Veterans Outreach Program of the Year award for the State of Florida. Tom Richardson won the 2008 Local Veterans Employment Representative of the Year award for the State of Florida.
