This October marks the fourteenth National Disability Employment Awareness Month. This year's theme, chosen by Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, is "You're Hired! Success Knows No Limitations!" During the month of October, government agencies and nonprofit organizations will conduct public events and initiate programs to encourage businesses to consider the value of people with disabilities in the workforce.

FLORIDA MINIMUM WAGE RAISE IN ANNUAL CALCULATION ANNOUNCED
TALLAHASSEE - The Agency for Workforce Innovation announced today that Florida's minimum wage will be $6.40 per hour effective January 1, 2006 for all hours worked in Florida. This represents an increase of 25 cents over the current state minimum wage of $6.15 per hour.

TALLAHASSEE- Susan Pareigis, Director of Florida's Agency for Workforce Innovation, announced today that individuals who have lost jobs or businesses as a result of Hurricane Wilma may be entitled to Disaster Unemployment Assistance benefits. On October 24, 2005, President George W. Bush, in response to a request from Governor Jeb Bush, declared a major disaster for Broward, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties, clearing the way for use of federal funds to provide assistance to individuals affected by the disaster.
