The Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI) recognized three One-Stop Career Centers, operated by Florida’s Regional Workforce Boards, for providing outstanding services to more than 172,000 veterans over the past year. WorkSource Career Center, Workforce Alliance and the Florida Crown Workforce Career Center each received $29,416.
“We are committed to serving our veterans and are indebted to them for their service to our nation,” said AWI Director Cynthia R. Lorenzo. “I applaud our Regional Workforce Boards for their efforts to eliminate barriers and link veterans to new employment opportunities.”
Under the federal Jobs for Veterans Act, states can designate up to one percent of their Jobs for Veterans state grant allocation for incentive awards. This year, Florida recognized three centers categorized by size of veterans’ population served (large, medium and small).
A committee comprised of representatives from AWI, Workforce Florida, Inc., the Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training program and Florida’s Department of Veterans Affairs reviewed the nominations and selected winners.
