Jacksonville’s Lad Daniels was recently elected as chairman of the WorkSource board. Daniels has served on the WorkSource board of directors since July of 1996. He was unanimously elected by the 33-member regional workforce development board, consisting primarily of private business owners.
Daniels is president of Daniels & Associates, Inc., and president of First Coast Manufacturers Association. Known for his community involvement, Lad has served in the past as president-elect of the Jacksonville Community Council, Inc., chairman of The Player's Championship, president of the Mandarin Rotary Club, division chairman of the United Way, international vice president and past USA vice president of Children's International Summer Villages, District Chairman of the Boy Scouts of America, and president of the Royal Lakes Civic Association.
Daniels was also elected at-large to the Jacksonville City Council in 1999, and has been committed to promoting quality education and workforce development. During his first four years on the Council, he served on most of the seven standing committees and began his second term in 2003. His experience as a business professional and community leader made him aptly prepared for his role as City Council President for the 2003-2004 Council Year.
Daniels is also a past member of the Florida Community College at Jacksonville Foundation Board, an advisor to the University of North Florida Engineering Advisory Board, past president of the World Affairs Council Board, and a member of the Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Task Force and Government Relations. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at North Carolina State University and his Master of Business Administration at Harvard University. He is married to former educator Carol Daniels. They have two children and three grandchildren.
The WorkSource board of directors also elected Raymond Chauncey as vice chairman and Van Royal as Secretary / Treasurer. Chauncey is president and CEO of the Business & Emerging Technology Accelerator in Nassau County and has served on the board of directors since November of 2000. Royal is Project Director at the Magnolia Golf and Country Club in Clay County and has served on the board since August of 1999. The officer terms began July 1, 2006.
