Annual Meeting Update
The WDB Center for Business Excellence's Board of Directors recently conducted their Annual Meeting in the new Board facility on November 1st to review the 2004-2005 Annual Report and a new web-based interview tool for business clients. The meeting marked the first held at the new location on Bill France Boulevard since the grand opening event in September.
The new boardroom, which has been opened for business community usage, is constructed to support 40 individuals, include state-of-the-art media capability and tables that can be arranged into multiple configurations. Rick Fraser, President of the WDB, welcomed Board members to the new facility and proudly discussed the reasoning behind the boardroom’s wall displays of Executive Committee photographs, business plaques, and events and activity posters.
“This room is being offered as a meeting place to serve our business community, as well as our Board needs, and I felt that it was essential that those who use this room see the quality of the business leaders that guide us, get a sense of our vast network of business partnerships, and the services we provide.”
The boardroom's availability was just one of the tour features that was shared with the public at the facility's open house celebrated on September 29th. Tours of the WDB Daytona Beach One-Stop Career Center were also provided to guests. “It was an outstanding event. We had a great turn out from the business community. It couldn’t have gone any better in my book,” added Fraser.
Charlie Howell, WDB Director of Information Technology, presented a new web-based tool available to assist local businesses. The new technology, purchased from Interview USA, will allow business users to quickly narrow job candidates for face to face interviews by viewing online interview responses. The Board quickly and unanimously ratified the organizations decision to provide the service to the local business community. Joe Brumenschenkel, Chair of the WDB shared his thoughts, “This kind of product clearly represents the wave of the future and I commend this organization for continuing to provide the cutting edge technology that allows our business community the opportunity to benefit from such cost saving enterprises. These are the kind of risks worth taking. This is an opportunity to pioneer another useful service into the hands of our business community.”
