Latest Recruitment Tool for Businesses
The WDB Center for Business Excellence has purchased a new tool to provide local businesses with the capability to pre-screen applicant interviews on-line, bringing time-saving automation to the interview process.
“Businesses are always seeking new ways reduce the time and costs involved with the recruitment process and our new product will allow them to pre-screen large numbers of candidates quickly and efficiently, effectively decreasing much of the time involved doing personal interviews to unqualified candidates,” stated Rick Fraser, President of the WDB Center for Business Excellence. “The service is not meant to replace the face to face interview, but to reduce the number of face to face interviews associated with a position,” added Fraser.
The new service will initially be available as a pilot project beginning in January. The WDB will implement the system to several businesses representing a mix of industries. The WDB hopes to use the opportunity to identify business sectors that will most benefit from the new tool. Formal outreach activities and implementation of the service will begin in July 2006.
The system visually records applicant responses to questions posed by a virtual, interactive, interviewer. The interviewer is a pre-recorded professional that conducts the interview. The questions posed are standardized by industry. Business will access and view the web-based log of job candidates and can share the interview files of solid applicants via email to co-workers and supervisors also involved in the hiring process. The service will help businesses narrow down candidates for traditional face to face interviews.
The WDB is inviting local businesses to participate in the pilot run. Interested business representatives may contact the Business Services Unit at businessservices@osc-fvc.org.
