On August 18th, the State of Florida was awarded a National Emergency Grant (NEG) by the United States Department of Labor to create temporary jobs for both long term unemployed individuals and workers displaced as a result of Hurricane Charley to assist public and private non-profits with clean-up and restoration. NEG funds targeted for our region will be administered locally by the Workforce Development Board of Flagler and Volusia Counties, Inc.(WDB).

The WDB is in the process of collecting the necessary hiring information associated with available positions from social service agencies and county and city managers in the two-county area. Public service announcements have been provided to local television, radio and print media to target eligible workers for the project.

The WDB and its One-Stop Career System personnel are also providing assistance information at the FEMA Center located at Sunshine Park Mall in South Daytona.
