WDB Receives REMco Donation for START Program
The Workforce Development Board of Flagler and Volusia Counties, Inc. (WDB) is pleased to announce that REMco Software, Inc. has agreed to donate NiteVision, a Windows-based property management system utilized by the hotel industry worldwide, for inclusion in the START Training Program. The software is being provided through the efforts of the REMco Education Alliance Program (REAP), which allows qualified training organizations to receive copies of the property management system program for the purpose of training hospitality management students.
“A strong commitment to higher education is one of our primary concerns,” stated John Darby, President of REMco Software. “We are delighted to be affiliated with a progressive, dynamic project such as START.”
The START program is provided locally through a partnership effort between the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, the Florida Hotel and Motel Association and the Hotel Motel Association of Volusia County and the WDB. The program provides individuals with the skills necessary to enter a long-term career in the lodging industry and prepares students for professional certification opportunities in the future.
“By bringing NiteVision into the classroom, our START training partners can provide students with direct exposure to an essential industry tool. It enhances our objectives and provides the students with real-world experiences,” stated Rick Fraser, President of the WDB. “We’re pleased that REMco chose to support our local effort.”
The next START program training classes are scheduled to begin on September 7th at Serenity House and at Growth, Promise and Potential (G P&P). Individuals interested in pursuing a career in the hotel and lodging industry may contact the One-Stop Career Center at (386) 323-7001 for information.
