WCF Hiring for Re-Employment Connection

WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA is still hiring for its Re-Employment Connection, an employment program funded by $4 million in stimulus funds under the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act that will provide employability skills and valuable work experience for 700 adults, age 22 and up, in local jobs.  

 

Each of the 700 participants will work in one of 12 tracks that are staggered throughout a 15-month period, which began in October 2009 and continues through December 2010.   Participants will have an opportunity to earn $10 an hour and work up to 40 hours a week for three months. 

 

Who Qualifies for Jobs and How Do They Apply?

Adults that fit the following eligibility requirements may qualify:

·         Must be age 22 or older by September 15, 2009

·         Must be a resident of Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake or Sumter counties

·         Must meet the WIA Dislocated Worker program eligibility categories

o    You may be eligible for this program if you meet one of the following criteria:

§  If you have been terminated, laid off or downsized

§  If you are eligible for or are receiving unemployment compensation

§  If you have exhausted your unemployment benefits

§  If you worked at a facility with more than 25 employees that announced a permanent layoff

§  If you are a homemaker who no longer receives support from another family member and are looking to enter the workforce

§  If you were self-employed and currently unemployed due to a natural disaster or economic conditions

·         Priority given to veterans and their spouses

·         Each month WCF will accept 75 applicants on a first come, first served basis

 

When do Interns Begin Working and When Does the Program End?

Each participant in the program will work a total of 12 weeks in one of 12 tracks.

 

Track 1 – October 19, 2009 – January 11, 2010

Track 2 – November 16, 2009 – February 8, 2010

Track 3 – December 14, 2009 – March 8, 2010

Track 4 – January 11, 2010 – April 5, 2010

Track 5 – February 15, 2010 – May 10, 2010

Track 6 – March 15, 2010 – June 7, 2010

Track 7 – April 12, 2010 – July 5, 2010

Track 8 – May 17, 2010 – August 9, 2010

Track 9 – June 14, 2010 – September 6, 2010

Track 10 – July 12, 2010 – October 4, 2010

Track 11 – August 16, 2010 – November 8, 2010

Track 12 – September 13, 2010 – December 6, 2010

 

The track that each participant is assigned to will be determined by the date that he/she applies for the program.  The first to enroll is the first served.
