These are the new leaders in American business.”

BNSF Named Small Business Advocate of the Year
BNSF received the 2009 Small Business Advocate of the Year at the recent Fort Worth Entrepreneur Expo.

Mayor Mike Moncrief presented the award to Matt Rose, BNSF chairman, president and chief executive officer. BNSF was recognized for its contribution to the Agenda for Building Capacity, or ABC, an initiative the expo launched in 2008. ABC is a collaboration between Fort Worth, Tarrant County, BNSF, the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Worth Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce and the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Fort Worth. This award was created to recognize organizations for their support of business diversity in general and the ABC program in particular.

“BNSF Railway has been a leader in the ABC program from its inception. The corporation is approaching the $400-million mark for purchases in its supplier diversity program. That’s special,” Moncrief said. “But here’s the quote that won this award:  ‘Diversity can no longer be just another program. It must become a way of life.’  That’s a strong message, don’t you think?”
“Matt Rose and his company are charting the path for other companies to follow,” Moncrief said. “We appreciate his commitment to diversity and business development.”

HOOKS U, LLC was featured in Dallas Morning News & The Gourmet Retailer Breaking News Dispatch

http://www.gourmetretailer.com/gourmetretailer/photos/stylus/67008-20090114_dis_hooksu.jpgWe first saw Hooks U Salsa at Texas Salute! during the Dallas Wine & Food Festival. It was the best one at the tasting event. The medium heat and thickness are just right, and the tangy zing makes it taste super fresh. Not at all like something out of a jar. It’s made with no sugar, vinegar or preservatives, just tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, cilantro, salt, garlic, paprika and other spices.

Salsa maker Zoubida Hooks is working on mild and hot versions of her Fiery Food Challenge-winning recipe. She says her first flavor was medium because she wanted it to be “not so hot that the flavors get lost in the heat.” Ms. Hooks started making the medium salsa in her Colleyville kitchen, and she has given it to friends and family for several years; she started selling it in 2004.

A16-ounce jar is $2.99 to $4.24, depending upon the store. Available at Market Street in
Colleyville and McKinney, Albertson’s, Tom Thumb, Wal-Mart and some Kroger stores. It should also be available in select Whole Foods Markets and Brookshire’s supermarkets this month.

Hooks U Salsa was also featured in the January 14th, 2009 The Gourmet Retailer Breaking News Dispatch, the leading voice of the gourmet industry.
Recipes using Hooks U Salsa in everything from chili to soup are available at
