New Column Profiles WBEs' Deals

Giving you an additional reason to turn in your done deals each month, the Council is creating a new column – “Diving Deep Into Done Deals”, where one deal from the past quarter will be profiled. This quarter, we are highlighting a deal from the May issue submitted by TXU for business done with WBE, the Warrior Group.

Henry Bow, Senior Procurement Rep. for TXU reports a brand new deal with The Warrior Group. This opportunity was definitely made possible because of Round-Up! Gail Warrior-Lawrence was introduced by TXU’s Grace Hastings and Cheryl Stevens to the Nuclear Procurement Manager and a contract representative from the TXU Comanche Peak plant at the Kick-off Reception. They were very impressed with Gail. Then, Grace received a request from Henry Bow at Comanche Peak for an M/WBE supplier that could provide a supply of concrete blocks for a vehicle barrier system. The Warrior Group was recommended and they won the reverse auction that was held. Congratulations!

Now, let’s “dive a little deeper” into this deal. WBE, The Warrior Group is dedicated to improving the modular industry by offering design services, professional project management and quality customer service. They specialize in classrooms, offices, clinics and computer labs constructed in a controlled environment to meet all national and local building codes. In their modular process, buildings are fabricated in an assembly line atmosphere allowing more efficient and timely allocation of work.

The Warrior Group was certified by the Council in November 2001 and coincidentally, Grace Hastings and Debra Davis from TXU performed the site visit. It seems as though this deal has been in the making for a while. Cheryl Stevens, Vice President Workforce & Supplier Diversity for TXU says, “This done deal is a great opportunity for TXU to be able to add another great certified WBE to our supplier base. We are very excited for the Warrior Group! Pardon the pun, but this is concrete proof that Round-Up and our Council work!”
