As one of the Council’s WBENC Forum representatives, it is my responsibility to keep you updated on our national organization’s endeavors and activities. For those of you that are not familiar with the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), they provide a national standard of certification for women-owned businesses and are the nation’s leading advocate for WBEs as suppliers to America’s corporations. As a certified WBE with the WBCS, you are automatically a member of WBENC and you are represented nationally through the Women’s Enterprise Leadership Forum.
The mission of the Forum is “to promote, translate and advocate the needs, issues and benefits of women’s business enterprises and to facilitate corporate and supplier business opportunities for WBE members of WBENC.”
At our recent Forum meeting in March, it was announced that WBENC has updated their website database to make it more effective and “user friendly”. The website for WBENC or WBENC Link, is www.wbenc.org. It is an excellent tool to help you find other WBEs when you are looking to buy particular products or services, you can also search by city or state. Also on the WBENC link, you can access a corporate contact listing. Another useful WBENC tool is the “We Buy List”, where WBEs and Corporations list items or services they are interested in purchasing. To be included on this email list, email b2b@wbenc.org and give your name and company name.
Don’t forget that WBENC’s annual trade fair will be in New Orleans on June 22-24, 2004. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other WBEs and Corporate members.
