The Council has set some exciting goals for itself in 2003 that are resulting in increased procurement opportunities, state-of-the-art educational seminars, expanded mentoring opportunities, and outreach activities throughout our four-state region, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and north Texas.
Blanketing all these goals is a high priority on recruitment and retention of both Sustaining and WBE membership. A growing representation of WBEs in all areas of goods and services and an increased buy-in on the part of corporations and government entities will mean more business and better value for all.
Increasing second tier contracting opportunities for WBEs, and helping to promote alliances and partnerships that keep WBEs in competition for large contracts are also key ingredients in our plans for the year.
So, I encourage you to provide your insights and suggestions. I am always interested in hearing from you. The WBE Ambassador position on the board of directors is an additional avenue for keeping in touch, and Marsha Davidson (ambassador@wbcsouthwest.org) this year’s WBE Ambassador, will be communicating with you regularly through "Mind Your Business", the all Council newsletter. Marsha has been involved in just about every activity and program of the Council and is a great resource for you.
