Commission on National and Community Service
The mission of the New Jersey Commission on National and Community Service is to guide and support New Jersey’s AmeriCorps and Learn and Serve America programs, promote an ethic of service for citizens of all ages and backgrounds, and strengthen communities through service in the areas of education, human needs, environmental protection, disaster response, and homeland security. NJIT- Civic Engagement 1st Friday Seminar Series

Civic Engagement 1st Friday Seminar Series provides a forum for NJIT students to learn about the many benefits of civic engagement. Representatives from nonprofit, education, and government agencies join members of NJIT staff and faculty to facilitate informative “how-to” workshops, lecture-style seminars, and reflection sessions for students interested in public service careers. This series enable participants to explore the possibilities for professional and leadership development through community and public service experiences and to meet with other like-minded students and professionals committed to shaping a better future for our local and global communities. Five seminars are held on the first Friday of each of three months during the academic semester. The sessions are open to all NJIT students
