Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells has created a statewide Business Volunteer Council to encourage and recognize volunteerism in the business community and to share information, resources, and best practices. The Council will advise Secretary Wells on new trends in the field and will advise her on how the Governor’s Office of Volunteerism can increase and enhance community service activities among employees. A key element of the mission of the Council is to develop partnerships among businesses, volunteer centers, and non-profit agencies to provide meaningful volunteer experiences that strengthen New Jersey’s communities and address major societal concerns.
The first meeting of the Council is scheduled to take place October 3 at the State House in Trenton. The co-Chairs of the statewide Council are Michael Bzdak of Johnson & Johnson, Jo Ann Dow-Breslin of PSE&G, and Arlene Lester of State Farm Insurance. All three of the co-Chairs have been in the forefront of business volunteerism for many years.
