Daniel Ryan Feldman and GAC member Gary Schneider |
In addition to his annual fundraising, Daniel organizes service projects that mobilize hundreds of community members working together to support and improve the health and well being of others. He has collected toiletries for the homeless, food for the hungry, books for children who lost theirs during disasters, clothes for those in need and toys for children struggling with poverty. He has also raised funds to build an accessible baseball field for youth with disabilities.
The service-learning projects he has established have brought together youth throughout New Jersey for the specific purpose of helping to eradicate child hunger in America. To date, he has raised $20,000 to help feed hungry youth. This money has provided more than 14,528 healthy meals for children who might otherwise have gone unfed. Add to that the pounds of food collected in his food drives that help feed the hungry in the local community and you have a young man who has truly made a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
In addition to the Governor's Volunteer Award, Daniel has received many accolades for his great service, including the President's Volunteer Award and the Prudential Spirit of Community Award.
