Wisdom…
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent.
The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
Calvin Coolidge

February 27: Tel Aviv Seminar for Israeli Manufactures
Insider Secrets for Successful expansion into US
http://viab.org/Seminar/ Feb27.pdf
Virginia will send a delegation of experts to Israel to give a Special Seminar that will provide Israeli manufactures with valuable information needed to successfully expand their manufacturing in the US.
Virginia is known for its excellent location on the East Coast, close to Washington DC. It is also known for it's proximity to the dicision makers in Washington, the Pentagon, Federal Funding, the largest Naval base in the world (Norfolk, Virginia), the NIH and excellent manufacturing opportunities in various enterprise zones. What is less known, according to Mr. Robbins, the Exective Director of the VIAB, is the connections that the VIAB can help facilitate to these important business making assets.
Gloria Daout, a Senior Vice President from one of the worlds largest Banks, the Bank of America, will participate in the seminar and hold an interactive discussion: "Financing the deal". “I don’t believe it’s enough just to know potential financing sources. Israeli CEOs and CFOs should also know the realities of how to overcome the challenges of being a foreign company that wants to expand their business in the US." According to Mr. Robbins, the seminar will provide much more than information about potential incentives: “Knowing what incentives are available is only half the story. Knowing how to maximize these incentives is the real challenge. The information we will provide can save Israeli companies serious money.”
Mr. Robbins offered and example: “We’ll give insights based on experience and answer some of the following questions: Where can you negotiate the most? On the state level or the local level? How much negotiating room is there? How can you maximize your chances for getting low interest loans? How much equity do you need? A foreign company twenty years old, expanding into the US is considered a “start up”. True or false? Other speakers include Nadav Kaplan who worked with Zim to evaluate over 125 locations when they decided to move their US headquarters from New York City to Norfolk Virginia? According to Mr. Kaplan, “I will present a case study and offer some very practical advice which can save time and money.” Both the Virginia Israeli Advisory Board and the Virginia Economic Development Partnership will combine their resources for this seminar. Israeli companies attending the seminar will have an opportunity to meet with the Virginia delegation for one-on-one consultations. For more information, click: http://viab.org/Seminar/Feb27.pdf

How should an Israeli company sell to the US Federal Government?
An interview with Mike Fox, CEO of Synaptic Source a Federal Sales and marketing agency for
www.synapticsource.com.
Editor's Note: Synaptic Source is a Federal Sales and marketing agency for small business. The company works with CEOs who want to aggressively enter the government market, and those who are doing well and just need more help. Mike Fox is the Synaptic's CEO.
Can an Israeli company sell to the US Federal Government? Does a presence in the US help? Yes, Israeli companies do sell direct to the United States Government. 1985 US-Israel Free Trade Agreement promotes trade between the two countries and there are 118 Israeli companies listed in the US Federal database of contractors (Central Contractor Registry). A local presence is important as any major account customer would like you to be accessible. The customer wants to know that you are available should they need you for an order or service issue, and that they have some input into your long range product plans and development. Your first sale into a department of the government is only a gateway to more business if you can foster the relationship through continued good rapport, availability, and reliability.
What size companies do you work with? We are looking for Israeli companies between $1million and $5million in revenue but will talk to larger companies if the fit is right. It will be good for the US Government to have a higher awareness of the capability and strength of the Israeli technology sector and acquire those leading edge technologies not available in the US.
