Wisdom…
Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent.
The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
Calvin Coolidge

by Marisa Hagerman
Carilion Biomedical Institute announced that a delegation of experts will visit Israel from September 19 – 22 to interview potential companies for its special program that will take place in Roanoke, Virginia from November 9 -11. The Carilion – Israel Biomedical Program will assist Israeli biomedical companies to fast track their commercialization strategy in the United States.
“We can fast track commercialization by leveraging our $1.5 billion a year health organization: assistance in testing, management, marketing and funding.”
Daniel Barchi, CEO, Carilion Biomedical Institute
The program seeks collaboration with Israeli bio-medical industries that offer innovative products and services, that have management in place and include a thorough business plan. According to Dr. Andre Muelenaer, the Medical Director of CBI, “we aren’t seeking companies that merely seek funding. If we can’t provide significant value added to the commercialization process, we aren’t interested. I believe the potential is so significant, that I am making this trip so I can meet the companies and their management first hand. That will enable us to prepare a tailored protocol of meetings for the selected companies when they visit Virginia in early November.”
A team of experts from Virginia will conduct interviews with potential companies in Israel, and choose a maximum of four candidates for the November program. Each candidate will receive coaching in preparation for the program in Roanoke, Virginia.

Norfolk Program brings Four Israeli Companies to Hampton Roads
Potential for Elspec and Dominion to team in strategic relationship
by Marisa Hagerman
In May, four Israeli companies participated in the Norfolk program in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The purpose of the program was to create strategic alliances that enable Israeli companies to commercialize in the US via a base in Virginia. The program, an initiative of the Virginia Israel Advisory Board and Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance, began with thirty-five interviews in Israel and ended with four corporate heads showcasing their companies to a targeted audience of potential strategic partners and financial institutions in Norfolk Virginia. As a result of the program, Elspec, an Israeli company that focuses in improving power quality for industrial users, will test their products with Dominion Power, a major US energy supplier based in Virginia and operating in eight states. Assuming the tests produce the anticipated results, Elspec hopes to become a preferred vendor of Dominion.

Israeli Company Succeeds in PR Business
A case study: Location + connections = Success
http://www.aboutsage.com
David Gorodetski’s career extended over both sides of the Atlantic, from Israel to New York and finally to a strategic move into the Greater Washington DC area. After serving as Vice President, Interactive Services Worldwide for NY-based Ogilvy Public Relations Gorodetski founded Sage Communications. Israeli-born Gorodetski, the President and Creative Director at Sage, attributes his success to a combination of the right location, outstanding colleagues and a great network of contacts. While the company offers other Israeli companies major advantages, they have entered the mainstream in terms of clients, now working with Fortune 500 companies. But they still believe their main advantage comes from his Israeli background that has taught him to be agile, flexible and to move quickly.
Networking in the US is extremely important to success. The Virginia Israel Advisory Board has helped us tremendously, both on the Federal and State level.
David Gordetski, President, Sage Communications
