We think we’re going to get a lot of our best articles from you, our subscribers, and encourage you to please submit any articles or ideas that you may have. Whether it’s a view you have on a particular issue or subject or a news announcement of interest, we’d like to hear about it.
The only thing we ask is that your submission have relevancy to Virginia and Israel and it’s not overly promotional or marketing in nature. Other than that, we will consider all submissions. You can send them directly to Robbins@viab.org. -- Ralph Robbins

VIAB Special Business Development Mission to Israel on June 17-18, 2002

The Virginia Israel Advisory Board (VIAB) has announced that its 4th VITTS (Virginia Israel Technology Trade Summit) conference will take place in Israel on June 17-18. According to Ralph Robbins, the Executive Director of the VIAB "this is very different from a traditional conference. It is a hands-on a Business Development Mission limited to only 20 companies.

And the Results from Last Months Poll Question...
Three areas of Virginia's economy are expected to have substantial growth in 2002. Which one ranks the highest? The results: Biotech 26.3% Government Contracts 52.6 % Internet 21.1%
In fact, government contracts is the correct answer. President Bush's FY 2003 budget announced on February 4 marks the biggest increase in defense spending in 20 years, promising a big boost in government contracts. Bush's budget also calls for $52 billion for Federal IT spending alone (up from $48 billion this year). Virginia is well poised to capture a nice portion of this federal largesse, since many government contractors are based in the Virginia area, close to the Federal government in Washington D.C. and The Pentagon, based in Arlington, Virginia.
