GMU’s National Center for Biodefense turns to Israel
Israeli Companies invited to Special June 22 Event
GMU’s National Center for Biodefense turns to Israel
Israeli Companies invited to
Special June 22 Event
Ken Alibek, MD, Ph.d., the Director of the National Center
for Biodefense, announced today that he hopes a number of leading Israeli
companies will participate in a Special event: “Accelerating Solutions to
Bioterrorism”. The event will be held
at the Center For Innovative Technology on June 22, the day prior to the
opening of Bio2003 in Washington DC.
According to Dr. Alibek, this will be a unique opportunity
for Israeli companies to meet other international and US companies in their
same arena. The Center and the event
concentrate on “biological weapons in the areas of detection, prophylaxis, and
treatment. This may include companies
that are capable of manufacturing protective products, or for developing drug
treatment for infectious diseases. “We
both have exceptional talents to approach the unsolved terrorism threats. We must collaborate in order to accelerate
the solutions. That’s what this event
is all about.”
Congressman Jim Saxton will be the keynote speaker. Saxton is the Chairman of the newly created
House Terrorism, Unconventional Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee in the
new 108th Congress.
According to Saxton, “There are very few persons worldwide with the
expertise in the subject that Ken Alibek has.”
The special event will be a closed event limited to 100 of
the elite in the field. Companies must
submit an application, which will be reviewed by a committee at the National
Center for Biodefense. The event is
complimentary. Complimentary
transportation will also be provided from Washington, DC.

for an “Application for Participation”.
