2004: A Record Year for ATA Carnets

Introduction of a new  Carnet form and other service improvements means even swifter processing Reflecting a surge in U.S. business activity overseas, use of ATA Carnets by American companies hit an all-time high in 2004. Just over 15,000 Carnets were issued last year by USCIB and its two service providers, Roanoke Trade Services, Inc. and the Corporation for International Business.

UNEP Launches Mercury Partnerships, Recognizes Business Role

UNEP welcomes delegates to the 23rd Session of its governing council.

In late February, the UN Environment Program (UNEP) agreed to initiate international cooperative action to manage and limit mercury risks through public-private sector partnerships. This landmark decision was reached at the 23rd Session of UNEP’s Governing Council, February 21-25 in Nairobi.

In keeping with its member governments’ commitment to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals, the 2003 OECD ministerial called on members and non-members to strengthen cooperation to promote investment in developing countries.
