USCIB Treasurer J. Frank Brown

Frank Brown Tapped to Head INSEAD

We would like to congratulate USCIB Treasurer J. Frank Brown on his appointment as the next dean of INSEAD.  Mr. Brown, currently the Global Leader of Advisory Services for PricewaterhouseCoopers, will bring to INSEAD over 26 years of experience working in international markets, building leadership programs and heading client service-oriented businesses.

He will serve as the school’s second American Dean since its creation 45 years ago.  The appointment of an external business executive as dean marks a major change for INSEAD, which has traditionally filled the position internally, from its own faculty.

“Taking advantage of the worldwide market is no longer a luxury for companies, it is a necessity,” said Mr. Brown. “I have spent the better part of my career working with business units, colleagues and clients based in Europe, Asia and beyond, where the paradigms for doing business differ dramatically from one region to the next. INSEAD’s international perspective and multicultural environment is what first attracted me to become involved in the school.”

USCIB President Peter M. Robinson wished Mr. Brown the best but said he would be sorry to lose his contributions to USCIB.  “Frank’s guidance as treasurer and chair of USCIB’s Finance and Oversight Committee has been extremely valuable to this organization, the management team and me personally,” he said.

In other news, the World Chambers Federation (WCF) has elected a new team of officers to lead its efforts, among them Robert Recker, executive vice president of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, who will serve as one of four vice chairmen. Mr. Recker is vice chair of USCIB’s Chamber of Commerce Committee, which works to connect internationally oriented American chambers with the wider USCIB network overseas.

Finally, Lorraine M. Brennan, Esq. director of Arbitration and ADR for North America at the ICC International Court of Arbitration will be teaching at Georgetown University Law Centre this spring. The course is entitled "International Business Transactions and Dispute Resolution". She will be an adjunct Professor of Law.  This is not Lorraine’s first time teaching, in addition to her work at USCIB/ICC, Lorraine also taught international business transactions in the spring and fall of 05 at Cornell Law School.

USCIB is pleased to welcome the following new members:

McDonald’s is a leading global foodservice retailer with more than 30,000 local restaurants serving nearly 50 million people in more than 119 countries each day.

Computer Associates International is one of the world's largest IT management software providers.

Saint-Gobain Corporation is a producer, processor and distributor of materials (glass, ceramics, plastics, cast iron, etc.). It operates in more than 50 countries worldwide, is one of the world’s hundred leading industrial corporations, and fields a workforce of over 180,000.
