New Chair for BIAC Biotech Committee

Rick Johnson
(Arnold & Porter) has been named the new chair of BIAC’s Biotechnology Committee, it was announced in June. He succeeds Terry Medley (DuPont), who stepped down to take on new responsibilities at his company.

Mr. Johnson is currently a senior partner with Arnold & Porter, where he specializes in legal, regulatory and public policy issues related to biotechnology and life sciences, as well as other emerging technologies. Before joining Arnold & Porter, he served as general counsel for international trade with the U.S. Commerce Department, where he was responsible for both trade policy and international technology issues.

Mr. Johnson brings significant expertise and insight to BIAC’s work on biotechnology policy. He also chairs BIAC’s “brainstorming group” on intellectual property rights and is vice chair of the BIAC Technology Committee.

Mr. Medley’s leadership of the committee, which he helped create and chaired since its inception, was instrumental in positioning BIAC as a key resource for the OECD and its member governments on international biotechnology issues. USCIB and BIAC would like to thank him for the many years of dedication and leadership he has given us.

We are pleased to welcome the following new members of USCIB: Unisys, a worldwide information technology services and solutions company, based in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, and Booz Allen Hamilton, a global strategy and technology consulting firm, headquartered in McLean, Virginia.

A warm welcome to Kristin J. Kisker, who has joined our staff as Arbitration Assistant for the ICC International Court of Arbitration. Kristin received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Ithaca College and her master’s degree in International Relations from Webster University in London. Before joining USCIB, she worked as an intern in the Middle East program at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London.
