UPCOMING EVENTS

ICC’s Marrakesh Congress Goes Online
The International Chamber of Commerce’s 35th World Congress takes place June 6-9 in Marrakesh, Morocco under the theme, “Standing Up for the Global Economy.” EU Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy and WTO Director General Supachai Panitchpakdi have confirmed their participation. Companies whose CEOs have signaled their intention to join the gathering of world business leaders include AXA, BASF, Koc Holding, Lafarge, Rio Tinto, Shell, Skoda, Unilever and Vivendi Universal. This is the major event on the ICC/USCIB calendar this year. We strongly encourage members to join the U.S. delegation to Marrakesh.

OECD Anti-Bribery Consultation
The OECD will hold a half-day consultation on enhanced prevention of bribery in international business transactions, April 21 in Paris, part of industry’s effort to encourage the OECD to be more pro-active on the “demand side" of bribery. A focus of discussion will be the establishment of facilities to report bribery solicitation. The program takes place just prior to the International Bar Association’s Paris conference on anti-corruption enforcement, April 22-23.
