Fourtou Urges Big Turnout For ICC Congress In Marrakesh

The upcoming 35th ICC World Congress in Marrakesh, Morocco will present a critical opportunity to make the case for business-led development around the world, according to ICC Chairman Jean René Fourtou.

Mr. Fourtou, the chairman and CEO of Vivendi Universal, met with USCIB’s Executive Committee in December, using the occasion to present his perspective on ICC’s activities and vision, and to press for strong U.S. business turnout at the Marrakesh Congress. Reflecting on the continued importance of ICC as a world business organization, Mr. Fourtou said that, “to keep successful and relevant in today’s world, ICC has made a priority of ensuring strong and well-represented national committees.” The Marrakesh World Congress will present an important forum for business to demonstrate leadership, he said, encouraging all USCIB members to attend and pointing out the timeliness of the event. It will be the tenth anniversary of World Trade Organization’s 1994 founding in Marrakesh, as well as – if WTO members keep to their announced timetable – the end of the Doha Round.

Updated information for the 35th ICC World Congress, including registration forms, will be sent to all USCIB members shortly. Please check the USCIB and ICC websites for the latest on the Congress.

How to Do Business With the UN – UN organizations spend $4.6 billion per year to supply their worldwide operations and are constantly seeking new sources of goods and services. On April 26 –27, New York, USCIB will be sponsoring a seminar on how your company can bid on UN procurement projects.
