Charles River Labs International – a long-standing operation on Route 209 in Stone Ridge – was recognized as #26 on the FORBES (October 2002) “200 Best Small Companies” list. This $520 million corporation provides the pharmaceutical industry with rodent breeding services and all aspects of pre-clinical medical research and testing.
In October, there was an announcement that two sites in Kingston are among 12 finalists to host the $172 million Rivers and Estuaries Center on the Hudson – with a final decision expected in early 2003. The local sites include the 700 acres, formerly owned by Tilcon, located in Kingston, and 76 acres at the former Hutton Brickyard.
