A Business Grows in Ulster

In each issue, DevelopingULSTER will highlight current business activity in Ulster County.

Town of Lloyd
Selux Corporation, a German-owned lighting manufacturer has expanded their production capacity with the addition of 20,000 square foot of manufacturing space – doubling the size of their headquarters and production facility.  This $2.6 million project, funded through the issuance of Ulster County Industrial Development Agency bonds, will allow the retention of its 33 employees while creating an additional 13 jobs. 

Town of Marlborough
Don Jackson and his son, Don Jr., owners of Innovation Design Systems, design engineers and manufacturers of industrial liquid delivery systems, began operations in the Milton Industrial Park in mid-2000 and continue to expand their unique technology-based business with the addition of a modular clean room.  Innovative Design Solutions received $150,000 in funding from the Ulster Grow America Fund and $50,000 from the Ulster County Revolving Loan Fund for their expansion project.  Low interest financing for this expansion will allow the creation of 5 new jobs and retain 3 existing jobs.

Town of Shandaken
Oxclove Workshop, in the hamlet of Chichester, a software programming company specializing in custom business solutions for the web, announced an expansion of their operations into a newly purchased and renovated building which will support business expansion. Oxclove was assisted by a $100,000 loan from the UCDC Telecommunications Fund and a $278,000 loan from the Ulster Grow America Fund.

Town of Ulster
The newest business to locate in the Kiefer Lane business complex is Kingston Block and Masonry Supply, LLC which purchased the former Franks' Nursery & Crafts - a 24,934 square foot, 5.3 acres facility on Kiefer Lane .  The company is creating a one-stop-shop in the newly renovated facility for production concrete block and a showroom for retail sales to the commercial and consumer markets.  The business was assisted by the issuance of $3.5 million of tax-exempt low interest manufacturing bonds by the Ulster County Industrial Development Agency.  This new business will create over 30 new jobs in our community.
