How Much Does YouTube Make?

While there’s still a lot of “gee whiz” about social media, some of the cracks in the whole concept are beginning to show. Nowhere is that more evident than with YouTube, one of the biggest brand names in Web 2.0. While it continues to be hugely popular, a peek behind the curtain by online analyst firm eMarketer shows it costs a lot more to keep YouTube running than anyone estimates it’s bringing in. Which brings up the question, “How long can non-profitable social media sites keep going?”
