The Dan Rather Rule

Whether this advice is truly from Dan Rather or the story is merely apocryphal, the "Dan Rather Rule" for answering a reporter's questions is a good one to remember. According to Rather, there are only three legitimate responses to a reporter's question:

1) "Yes, I know the answer, and here it is."
2) "No, I don't know the answer, but I'll try to find out."
3) "Yes, I do know the answer, but I can't tell you."

Of course, those who have taken Tech Image's media training already knew that.
