After scheduling hundreds of press conferences, media tours, trade show interviews and more for its clients over the years, Tech Image participated in a different type of media event on August 20. That’s when CEO Mike Nikolich played host to WSCR-AM 670’s afternoon team of Mike North and Doug Buffone, aka The Wise Guys, at his Northwest Suburban Chicago home.

Nikolich won the Score Backyard Barbeque by submitting an entry on the radio station’s Web site. In 50 words or less, he was challenged to tell The Wise Guys why his house would be a great location for their live, remove broadcast. The lure of a putting green, spacious deck with a large gazebo, swimming pool, pond with a paddle boat, and large yard proved to be just the thing, and so The Score descended on the Nikolich household.

In addition to the equipment needed for the broadcast, The Score and the broadcast sponsors brought plenty of food, including a collection of sausages, BBQ pork, corn, beans, and cole slaw. They also brought soda, Dean’s ice cream, and plenty of Warsteiner beer. Guests (including the Tech Image team) milled around eating, drinking, socializing, and taking advantage of all the activities. They also had the chance to chat with North and Buffone about the hot sports stories of the day. As the host, Mike was interviewed on the air, and later daughter Christine got in the act, reading a commercial and then talking about her two ACL surgeries in two years.

When the broadcast ended at 6:30, the party wasn’t over. Mike brought in another round of food, and opened his home to friends, family, neighbors, and clients. Live music was provided by The Bosko Brothers, the band featuring Tech Image Creative Director Ken Krause, who played until the Lake County Sheriff came to shut them down at 11:30 PM. COO Dennis Collins also got into the act, sitting in on drums for a rousing rendition of 5 O’Clock World/Gloria along with Ken’s son Adam.
