Southern California Technical Communication Managers' Roundtable Forming
by Adrienne Escoe, PhD

Recently, a group of technical communications managers gathered to launch a forum where they could share work challenges and solutions in a supportive and confidential setting. The group agreed to reach out to other technical communication managers via STC Southern California chapters and other related professional organizations, to survey potential participants for their preferences regarding meeting frequency and venue. Suggestions included monthly and quarterly meetings, online teleconferences, and on-the-ground gatherings.

The list of general topics the group hopes to discuss includes (but is not limited to):

·         Individual and team performance

·         Budgets

·         Law

·         Standards

·         Metrics

·         Everyday joys and woes of being a technical communication manager

If you manage a technical publications, policies and procedures, instructional design, corporate communications, or similar department and are interested in participating in the roundtable, please send an email to sctcmgrs@gmail.com. Include your name, job title, telephone number, email address, your location, and your ideas for meeting, times, and venues.
