Results from Last Month's "Revenue Generation" Poll

Last issue, we wanted to get a pulse on how many employers feel their techcom staffs contribute to the bottom line. Here’s what we found.

 

Revenue Generation

To what extent do you feel your company considers your techcom department an integral contributor to revenue growth?

Great extent

7.1%

Moderate extent

20.2%

Minimal extent

32.3%

Not at all

40.4%

 

On one hand, OUCH! At first, it looks as if over 70% of respondents feel that techcom provides minimal to NO contribution to revenue. On another hand, we could surmise that nearly 60% feels we generate revenue to some degree, while 40% feels we generate zilch.

 

To all those company executives who truly feel that communications professionals (technical or otherwise) add little to no value to their bottom lines, I smile, tip my hat (if I’m wearing one), and politely refer them to articles like “How Your Investment in Documentation Improves Your Bottom Line.”
