YTB Online Travel Firm Alert
 The online travel company, YourTravelBiz.com (YTB), is the subject of government action in one state and consumer complaints from over 31 states, territories and provinces. Consumers report to the BBB that YTB misled them with offers of inflated earnings, refused refunds once consumers realized the program was not as advertised, and was difficult to contact.

Falling Behind On Your Mortgage?
Mortgage foreclosures are up and the number of houses languishing on the market is up. All of this is happening as the value of homes is flattening or declining. “With mortgage foreclosures surpassing 240,000 homes a month according to RealtyTracs figures, it’s important for consumers to understand the situation and learn what they can do to protect themselves,” said Michelle Corey, president of the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois.

Hornbeck Foundation
The Shawn Hornbeck Foundation, popularized by the return of its abducted namesake, Shawn Hornbeck in 2007, is under scrutiny for its delays in filing required reports and failure to be transparent to the public, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) warns.
The foundation, formed in 2003, operates out of the Hornbeck’s home at 10112 Wolf Rd., Richwoods, Mo., which was donated to the family by a local home builder.

St. Louis Singles
After a high-pressure sales presentation, a St. Louis, Mo., man paid a local dating service $1980 to be a part of its program, he told the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
The man signed up with St. Louis Singles, also doing business as premier singles.com, st.louissingles.com, maplewoodsingles.com, richmondheightssingles.com, and Ultimate Introductions, which uses an address of 34 N. Brentwood Blvd., Suite 214, Clayton, Mo., 63105.

It's Not Too Late for Economic Stimulus Payment!
October 15 is deadline for this year
The IRS reminds consumers that If you haven't yet filed a tax return to get your stimulus payment, you still have time to do so. But you must file by October 15, 2008 to get your payment this year. If you don’t file by October 15, you can still claim the payment on your 2008 tax return if you qualify and did not receive the full payment this year.
The Treasury Department began making payments on April 28 and more than 120 million taxpayers have received their payments, but there are still many consumers, veterans and disabled Americans who have not filed.
