SCBA & DPD WORK TOGETHER TO CREATE SAFER STREETS IN THE CORRIDOR
Dallas Police Work to Clean-Up the Corridor
by Brooke Dieterlen
The SCBA Public Safety Task Force met and invited Dallas Police Department Officers as well as Security Directors from companies within the Corridor to discuss safety issues affecting the area. At the meeting, several safety issues were discussed but most disturbing were the panhandlers that had taken over the intersection of Stemmons Freeway and Oak Lawn. City Council Member Pauline Medrano, numerous concerned citizens and several representatives from companies located in the Corridor contacted the SCBA office and asked for something to be done to clean up that intersection. At the Task Force meeting it was decided with the help of Bill Casey, Trammell Crow Security Director for the INFOMART, Dallas Police Department's Senior Corporal Kevin Janse and ICP Officer Kevin Ellis that a call to TEXDOT would be placed asking them to come in and clean up the area during an all day sweep of that area's panhandlers. Arrests were made, trash cleaned up...all-in-all a huge success. TEXDOT was contacted as they owned the problem site where the panhandlers were conducting their illegal activities. This all stemmed from numerous phone calls made to SCBA, complaining of the filth that was accumulating down underneath the overpass. Broken liqour bottles, trash, a card table and chairs for the panhandlers to take a break from their illegal activities, food, human waste, and places for the group to sleep, all right underneath the Stemmons Freeway overpass at Oak Lawn.

If you have a site you want cleaned up in the Corridor, just contact the SCBA office at 214-800-8771 and provide us the details of the problem location. SCBA will then notify the proper authorities in order to get the site cleaned up. Make the call, Make the difference- It works!

BAIT CAR SIGNS CREATED TO REDUCE AUTO THEFT AND BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLES IN THE CORRIDOR
SCBA Wants to Help in the Reduction of BMV's and Auto Theft on Your Property
by Brooke Dieterlen
The Stemmons Corridor Business Association and the Dallas Police Department have teamed up together and are making available to all companies, hotels and apartment complexes, signs to post in the effort to reduce burglary to motor vehicles and auto thefts in the corridor. The signs indicate that a bait car may be in use in the area and if you steal a bait car you will go to jail. The thieves will never know if the car they are breaking into is a bait car or not. These signs will keep the criminals guessing, which is what we have to do to win the battle against burglary to motor vehicles and auto thefts. For more information on the signs or pricing please contact Brooke Dieterlen at 214-800-8771.

These signs will be available for purchase to post on your properties and in your parking lots.
