SCBA SUCCESSFULLY SUPPORTS ADDITIONAL RESIDENTIAL HOUSING AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WITHIN THE CORRIDOR
After months of negotiation and cooperation between the business community, neighborhoods, City of Dallas, and State of Texas; the Stemmons Corridor Business Association is proud to announce the redevelopment of a key property located at the intersection of Harry Hines Boulevard and West Mockingbird Lane. The facility was formerly a Radisson hotel and has since been abandoned.
A variety of development options were considered for this site, but the overwhelming consensus of the extended community was to redevelop this abandoned site into a senior and family housing facility. SCBA and leaders of adjacent homeowner’s associations prevailed upon the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to issue affordable housing tax credits to the proposed developer, Provident Realty Advisors.
The project, Providence at Mockingbird, will include:
Ø 155 Senior Housing units in the former hotel building
Ø 96 family housing units in two separate new facilities
Ø Occupancy - Spring, 2006
The key players included Robert Todd of City Realty Group, SCBA Past Chairman, Provident Realty Advisors, State Representative Rafael Anchia, Se-Gwen Tyler, Arlington Park Neighborhood Association, Wilma Avalos, Love Field West Homeowners Association, and Mary Lou Zijderveld, Bachman Lake Neighborhood Association.
We anticipate additional economic development being created adjacent to this project upon its completion in Spring 2006.
SCBA remains committed to promoting economic development through good business practices, strong neighborhoods, and good government for the Stemmons Corridor and the City of Dallas. Please contact us should you have any questions.
