SCBA urges Dallas City Council to take action on Charter Amendment proposals…..
The Stemmons Corridor Business Association’s Board of Directors unanimously approved a Resolution that urges the Dallas City Council to send the proposed Charter Amendments, as adopted by the Council, to the voters for the November, 2005 election. Most important of the changes is that the charter amendment empowers the Mayor to hire a Chief Operating Officer (previously known as the City Manager) and gives the City Council the authority to terminate the employment of the Chief Operating Officer by a simple majority.
We are committed to economic development for the business and property owners of the Stemmons Corridor and the City of Dallas while being positive advocates for good business practices and good government.
SCBA has previously gone on record against the Proposed Strong Mayor Charter Amendment (Blackwood) based on the lack of checks and balances. SCBA supports, however, Mayor/Council/Manager form of government that increases the authority and accountability of the Office of the Mayor.
SCBA leaders are in the process of contacting City Council members to personally encourage their support in this change of City of Dallas governance. I welcome your feedback and questions. Please contact me at dave.neumann@flmalik.com.
I encourage you to contact your City Councilmember in support of this change.
Unanimously Adopted by the SCBA Board of Directors,

David A. Neumann Chairman of the Board and President
