by DART Community Affairs

Dallas Area Rapid Transit has scheduled a public hearing on the Northwest Corridor Light Rail Transit to Farmers Branch and Carrollton about potential Medical/Market Center area station changes.

When: 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, 2004
Where: Medrano Elementary School Auditorium, 2221 Lucas Dr (Dls. MAPSCO 34 Z)

DART published the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Northwest Corridor Light Rail Transit Line in October 2003. Since that time, DART has continued coordination with Medical Center representatives on potential refinements to the Parkland Station in order to better integrate the station with future development. DART has also explored cost reduction strategies, which include a proposed change to the Market Center/Oak Lawn Station.

DART will hold a public hearing to receive comments on the following potential changes to the project:

Parkland Station
1. Shift aerial station platform north by approximately 600 feet
2. Reconfigure bus transfer area

Market Center/Oak Lawn Station
1. Shift station south by approximately 320 feet from an aerial station to an at-grade station (no changes to park-and-ride)
2. Replace pedestrian bridge over Harry Hines at Wycliff Avenue with an at-grade pedestrian crossing of Harry Hines at Vagas Street

Verbal comments will be taken at the public hearing. Written comments will be accepted through May 24, 2004, and should be mailed to Rosa Cavazos Rosteet, DART Community Affairs, PO Box 660163, Dallas, TX  75266-7232. The DART Board will consider verbal and written comments prior to any action on the changes.

If you have any questions or require additional information, please call 214-749-2522 or e-mail at rrosteet@dart.org.
