WE ARE "ONE"
On July 1 st, the Southern Indiana Chamber, the Southern Indiana Economic Development Council and Southern Indiana 2020 became One Southern Indiana, a unified, business-support organization. The idea behind "One Southern Indiana" is to become the voice of the business community in Clark and Floyd counties, which will make it easier to attract the attention of state economic development and political leaders in Indianapolis and to work more closely with business leaders in Kentucky. "One Southern Indiana" will help grow and retain existing businesses, attract new businesses to Southern Indiana, promote regional cooperation and plan long-term initiatives.
The effort to merge the three business organizations in Southern Indiana has been well thought out and executed. Three members from each of the organizations serve on the One Southern Indiana Interim Board of Directors chaired by Kerry Stemler, president of KM Stemler Company in New Albany. More than 100 volunteers have been actively involved in the process for the past several months serving on nine task forces relating to the structure and operation of One Southern Indiana.
One Southern Indiana is a new organization consisting of the blended strengths and missions of all three organizations, to create a unified voice for human, physical, and financial resources, which will better support the current and future economic vitality of our area. Positive change requires a bold new approach. Southern Indiana is preparing to meet that challenge with the creation of "One Southern Indiana". It’s time to lead with One vision and One voice for Southern Indiana.
