Turning Points
As specialty jewelers begin the second decade of the new millennium; it’s safe to say the first ten years were marked by many events including some turning points that have fundamentally changed the jewelry business.  However, some turning points are often hard to see.  Sometimes they are the synthesis of many smaller changes.  Less often, they are the result of a single big change.  Whether big or small, identifying turning points is usually the result of studying the past and integrating the present in order to anticipate future events.  Here we suggest a number of turning points (in no specific order) which appear to flow from the industries overt choices, unintended consequences, successes, and failures during the last decade...
