Mar 12, 2002--HANOVER, GERMANY--INTERNET WIRE I/O Software, Inc., Cognitec AG, and Open Interface announce that
Intel will use I/O Software's SecureSuite application, integrated
with Cognitec's facial recognition, and Open Interface's Bluetooth
technology to exhibit the recently launched Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4
Processor -M. The combination of Bluetooth and facial recognition
provides the user with a 'hands-off' logon experience, and it uses
Intel Integrated Performance Primitives (IPP) libraries that take
full advantage of the new processor's performance. Anand
Chandrasekher, VP of Mobile Platforms, will also show the application
during Intel's keynote address at CeBIT, scheduled for March 12,
2002.
CeBIT, which will open its doors to the public on March 13, 2002 in
Hanover, Germany, is the world's leading showplace for information
technology, telecommunications and office automation. SecureSuite's
multifactor authentication creates a personal computer security
solution that is highly secure and very easy to use. The authorized
user's Bluetooth wireless device (such as a mobile phone or PDA)
moves within a pre-defined distance of the PC to which access is
sought, and the user is then verified using biometric facial
recognition. It can also lock the PC and disable network access when
the user moves beyond the pre-set distance from the PC.
"Security is one of the key requirements for mobile computing of the
future", said Anand Chandrasekher, Intel Vice President Mobile
Platforms Group. "This solution as developed by I/O Software and its
partners is hitting the nerve and we are very pleased to see that all
the architectural advantages of the Pentium 4 Notebook Processor-M
were used."
I/O Software presently makes its SecureSuite/BAPI technology available
as part of the SecureSuite 3.5 authentication package. SecureSuite is
a commercial software package that provides a suite of applications
including logon, file and folder encryption, a password bank utility,
and application launch control for all major Windows platforms. The
technology is highly flexible and modular and integrates with a broad
range of biometric and non-biometric technologies.
Cognitec's FaceVACS technology enables software applications to
recognize persons based on their unique facial characteristics:
looking into the camera is sufficient. Software products based on
this technology can be used for physical access control to buildings,
video surveillance or to secure computer access. Cognitec has
marketed this technology since 1995 in turn-key solutions.
Cognitec's technology is integrated into 3rd party applications by
using the software development kit FaceVACS-SDK.
Open Interface North America (Open Interface), is a provider of
qualified Bluetooth protocol stacks and its BlueMagic was selected to
be integrated with SecureSuite. To date, the Bluetooth SIG has
specified 13 profiles that correspond to the specific applications a
particular Bluetooth device is capable of executing. BlueMagic
supports eleven of the 13 profiles, making it among the most
comprehensive protocol stacks in the industry.
