It's Never Too Late
by Carolyn Shadle

Photo of Bob GreenleafLike many students at SJSU Professional Development, Bob Greenberg, Manager of Customer Services Operation at 3PARdata, enrolled in his course work after years of experience in his field. Although a lot of his knowledge comes from this experience, he still feels that the course work has enriched his understanding.

After working in the customer service field for nearly 30 years, Bob took on a greater challenge two years ago. Joining the startup company 3PARdata, he assumed responsibility for building the technical support infrastructure including the call center, backline support and field support.

His manager sent him information on a new course entitled Strategic Planning for Service and Support in SJSU Professional Development's Technical Support Management program. He enrolled in the course and found it “worthwhile and well done.” Since then, Bob has completed the entire certificate program. “The courses validate my experience and differentiate my resumé,” he says. He now wishes that he had taken the courses before beginning his latest job challenge. He found that “you don’t have to figure things out and learn it all by yourself” when you have an instructor and classmates to help.

Whether you are entering a new field or confirming and enriching your experience, Bob’s testimony is that it’s never too late to add to your knowledge and skills.
