Minneapolis Office Welcomes New Recruiters and Campus Representatives

There are some new faces on board at the Minneapolis Peace Corps Recruitment Office! This August, the Minneapolis office welcomed two new recruiters and two new campus representatives for the 2005-2006 school year. They have shared a little bit about themselves so you can learn more about what brought them to Peace Corps. If you would like to contact them, please call or email our office in Minneapolis.

Peace Corps Responds to Hurricane Katrina in Extraordinary Way

WASHINGTON, D.C., September 13, 2005 – In an unprecedented move and for the first time in the Peace Corps’ 44-year history, volunteers have begun working domestically.

Peace Corps activated its Crisis Corps volunteers last week to aid the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s relief operation in the gulf coast region. Yesterday, the first group of Crisis Corps volunteers was deployed to Baton Rouge with the second group heading to Baton Rouge and Houston today to assist survivors.

Did you know that Peace Corps needs over 700 French speakers for programs starting in 2006? If you have two semesters of college level French or the equivalent, you may be considered for programs in French speaking countries.

Charles Harkness served as a TEFL Volunteer in Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyz Republic) from 2003-2005. He worked primarily as an English teacher at the National University, but he also taught computer skills to hemophiliac teens, and tutored students in English Composition.
