Meet our Campus Representatives!

It’s a new school year, and that means new individuals representing the Peace Corps at a campus near you. While our Campus Representatives are not recruiters, they are all returned Volunteers, and can be a valuable source of information and guidance if you are considering applying for Peace Corps service. Stop by their offices to chat, learn more about what being a Volunteer is all about, or pick up an application!

 

Tokey Boswell

Volunteer, Republic of Guinea, West Africa, 1999-2001

Tokey was a health extension Volunteer in Guinea where he worked with several villages in his county to improve water sanitation practices, environmental protection, and HIV/AIDS awareness. He is currently a graduate student at University of Iowa pursuing a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning. Tokey can be contacted at (319) 335-6447 or at peacecorps@uiowa.edu.


 

K. Eileen Cannon

Volunteer, Republic of Guinea, West Africa, 1998-2001

Eileen served as a TEFL volunteer teaching junior high and high school students, tutoring students in her community and organizing workshops focusing on improving study skills and girls' health. She also helped start a library in her community and during her third year she worked as a volunteer coordinator. Eileen in currently pursuing a Master's degree in Linguistics at the University of Iowa, where she will be assisting Tokey with his duties as Campus Representative.

 

Damian Wampler

Volunteer, Kyrgyz Republic, 1999-2001

Damian was a TEFL Volunteer who worked mainly with 8-11th graders but also taught students ranging from kindergarten to college level. He helped start up an NGO called "Center of Women's Initiative", began a library in his community and got a grant to start a computer center. He is currently a graduate student at University of Wisconsin-Madison where he is pursuing a Master's degree at the Center for Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. Megan Pape

Volunteer, Zambia, 2001-2004

Megan served as a health extension volunteer in Zambia where she helped develop community based groups to locally promote awareness about health problems and prevention. Part of her work also involved HIV/AIDS education and awareness. Megan also helped establish several community schools, and she worked closely with women's groups on income generating projects. She is currently the Campus Representative for Iowa State University. Megan can be contacted at (515) 294-9339 or at pcrep@iastate.edu.

Now that school is back in session, many of you may be thinking about finally tackling that Peace Corps application. Albanian Students Visit Minneapolis Peace Corps Office

From left to right: Volunteer Steve Tanghe with Albanian students Lorena Papa and Ermal Cela Recently the Minneapolis Peace Corps Office had a rare experience visiting with two Albanian students who were in the United States as part of an international customer service exchange program. The students, Ermal Cela and Lorena Papa, were both from the town of Berat in Albania and were selected from a competitive pool of applicants to participate in the program offered through the Hospitality Leaders of Berat and Famous Dave’s here in the United States.
