PRESIDENT'S LETTER
From the President
by Mark Gilliland

We’ve had a lot activity in the Panhandle Chapter these last two months.  I want to thank the MIGI Committee for their work putting together another successful MIGI Conference.  The committee working on the Casino Night has completed most of the preparations needed for us to have an enjoyable evening on Saturday, January 23rd.  And, I know the Tax Committee held a meeting last week to discuss next year’s Tax Institute.

At the TSCPA board meetings, Roger happened to mention all the CPE our chapter offers.  Many of the members from other chapters couldn’t believe it, and asked how we do it.  The secret is having fellow CPAs who are willing to help by serving on committees, and to do the work to keep these conferences happening. That, and an Executive Director like Jobie to help keep us on track!  Here’s a rundown of the events on our calendar.

18th Annual Tax Spectacular
Our annual tax update with Steve Tillinger will be on Wednesday, December 9 at the Amarillo Civic Center.  Steve always does a great job with this seminar and it is one of the best attended days of CPE we offer.  Jobie has a link to the registration form in this newsletter and on the Panhandle Chapter website.  I look forward to seeing you there.

Young and Emerging CPAs
We have tentatively scheduled Friday, February 5th as the date for a Joint Chapter meeting and meeting for our Young and Emerging CPAs group.  We are pleased to announce that Kym Anderson, Chairman of the TSCPA will be here to speak at both events.

Destination CPA
Speaking of Young and Emerging CPAs, check this out:
Visit Destination CPA (http://go.tscpa.org/) in the student section on TSCPA's Web site for an interactive accounting career road trip, complete with scenic routes and informative pit stops. This online experience puts students in the driver's seat to see through the virtual windshield all a CPA career has to offer.

Casino Night
Plans are set for the 2nd Annual Casino Night has been set for Saturday, January 23rd at The Renaissance.   The Casino Night committee is looking for Firms to sponsor a table and/or donate prizes for the evening’s entertainment.  Firms can sponsor a table for $250.  Contact Jobie if you are interested in sponsoring.

I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving!

Mark Gilliland
President

FROM the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Executive Director Sez

Hey All,

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holidays!  Wow. It can't be possible.  The Holiday Season is upon us.  Ready, Set, Go!

The paper directory information has been turned in to the printer.  It should be ready for delivery at the Tax Update.  I will have such a large number of you there, it will make delivery of the directory simple and smooth.

If you live out of Amarillo, the directory will be mailed to you.  If you live in town and are not headed to the Tax Update on Wednesday, December 9, I would appreciate so much you dropping by the Civic Center to pick up your directory.  Plan to send one representative over for the entire office.

Do the Chapter a favor, and save the postage.  Come to the Civic Center to pick up your copy of the Panhandle Chapter Paper Directory.

Have a super Thanksgiving week!!!
