Vacations and the lady in the Garmin GPS
I hope you are having a great summer and have had an opportunity to take some time off to spend with family and friends.

FROM the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Executive Director Sez

Hey All,

See below for details of the upcoming Tax Institute slated for September 2-3, 2009. Registration is available on the linked website and form.  I have received very few registrations to date, so please realize...this is the last newsletter before the Tax Institute.  REGISTER TODAY.

The Board has honored several requests by allowing for ETHICS ONLY participation at the upcoming Tax Institute.  See the registration form below for details on the cost to attend Thursday afternoon for ETHICS ONLY.

NEW THIS YEAR.  Take a look at the article below that details out several types of Memberships.  New this year is a NON-CPA Affiliate Membership for only $90 per year. The huge benefit to several firms and companies here in the Panhandle Chapter is member rates on CPE.  Sign up your NON-CPA staff as an affiliate and receive all member prices on the CPE classes offered.

ONE WAY OR THE OTHER
...Sounds like the Board also wants to honor many of your requests and bring back the paper directory. Data for the directory will come from the TSCPA database.  Go to tscpa.org to update you membership data so that it will be correct in our Panhandle Chapter printed directory.  Plans are to have the printed directory complete by the end of the calendar year.

Are you willing to pay $10 every two years for this directory?  Complete the survey in RED on the right, and let the Board know your opinions. Here is your chance to voice your opinion.  VOTE TODAY.

Have a super week-end...

NEWS and NOTES

ONE OF OUR OWN, Jerry McMillon, CPA, was one of the men named Young CPA of the Year by the TSCPA at the Annual Meeting in June. This award recognizes a CPA who is age 39 or under, and who has made significant contributions to the accounting profession and the community.

McMillon was president of the Panhandle Chapter in 2003-2004. He has served as a member of TSCPA’s Financial Institutions Conference Committee since 2001, including a term as committee chair from 2005 to 2007, and on the Awards Committee. His commitment to his community can be seen in his service to the United Way of Amarillo and Canyon, and the American Heart Association.  CONGRATULATIONS JERRY!

-----------------------------------------------

The Panhandle Chapter has successfully completed a CPE Sponsorship Evaluation by the TSBPA.  We will not be evaluated again for approximately two years.  Thanks to all the Committee Members, Speakers, and Participants.  You make my job easier to submit required materials to the TSPBA.
