PRESIDENT'S LETTER
From the President
by Roger Haynes

As I sit down to write my final letter as president with another Chapter year drawing to a close, I reflect back on all the activity of this past year.  I think it was a good year.  In addition to all the quality CPE opportunities we had, including a record turnout at our Tax Spectacular of over 250 registered, we tried a few new things this past year.

In September we combined our annual golf tournament with a luncheon and one hour CPE inviting the local attorneys to join.  We had several for the lunch CPE and 4-5 teams of attorneys join us for a rewarding time of networking and fun.  In November, our Young and Emerging CPA committee held a highly successful 2nd annual event in which approximately 75 WT students joined us for a luncheon presentation and then had the opportunity to quiz a panel of our members about the CPA profession.

Finally, in January, we held a Casino Night and invited the WT student members to join us for free.  With about 90 in attendance for this event I think everyone had a great time gaming, socializing and getting to know the students and younger CPA’s in a fun setting.   Through these efforts our student membership, and hopefully a greater interest in our profession, continues to grow.

All of this is only accomplished due to the hard work and sacrifices of members stepping up and agreeing to help get it done.  I want to thank all the committee members and board members that have worked so hard for the Chapter this past year.  I also want to thank Jobie for her great work in all she handles for the Chapter and making sure everything gets done and is done right.

Do not forget our two day Accounting and Auditing Update scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, May 20-21, 2009 at the Amarillo College of Business and Industry Building on Polk Street, which will be our final CPE event for the year

Thanks for the past year.

Thanks....Roger Haynes
