FROM the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
|
Executive Director Sez
Hey All,
I know your season is winding down, and you are hopefully seeing a light to the end of the tunnel. Good luck, and finish strong!
I have had several calls regarding our Ethics course number from the course offered at the MIGI last October. The course number should be reported to the TSBPA as number 007950. Jeff Clay borrows Ray Clay, his Father’s, number.
Once again, I have been working on updating the website. I am happy to take suggestions on content. I want it to be beneficial for the entire membership. Please continue to send status, address, membership updates to panchap.cpas@wildblue.net.
We continue to look for volunteers to serve on Committees or on the local Board. If interested, please shoot me a quick email at panchap.cpas@wildblue.net. The Chapter thrives on and depends on its volunteers, so please consider putting your name out there. We appreciate you.
Easy advertising for the local public firms. Pay only $100 and be listed on the website for an entire year under the FIND A CPA tab. Contact the chapter office today for more information. A new year starts on June 1, so get your name out there now.
Jobie Ogburn – Executive Director of the Panhandle Chapter panchap.cpas@wildblue.net (806) 359-7929

CHECK OUT THIS MONEY SAVING DEAL!
The Panhandle Chapter will reimburse the FIRST FIVE (5) “young and emerging CPAs, candidate or student members” that register for the TSCPA Young CPAs and Emerging Professional Conference detailed below.
When registering, make sure you request an email verification of the $95.00 payment. Simply forward that to the Chapter Office at panchap.cpas@wildblue.net. The first five forwarded email confirmations, with the earliest registration date, that are received at the Chapter Office will be reimbursed the $95 entrance fee to the Conference.
Ask your firm to pick up the airline fare, and head to Houston on May 22nd. This is a super conference and a great opportunity to enhance your skills and marketability. Conference sessions cover business skills for the workplace, client relations and practice development, generational dynamics, negotiation and conflict resolution, professional issues, taxation, technology trends, and more. Take it all in…in just a day.
Registration is now open for the event. CPAs and candidates can register on tscpa.org, but students must call the CPE InfoLine at 800-428-0272. ASK FOR AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION OF PAYMENT. Complete conference details, including an agenda, are available at http://www.tscpa.org/general/YoungCPAConfSpring09.asp.
AWESOME! TSCPA now has a Facebook fan page for the conference. You can encourage your members on Facebook to search for “Young CPAs Conference” and become fans of the event. Plus, a member of TSCPA’s Young CPAs and Emerging Professionals Committee is going to blog about the conference prep, speaker line-up and registration updates. He’ll also blog live from the event. The blog should be accessible from tscpa.org by early April. There will be a Twitter component as well.
If you have any questions about the conference, please contact Jennifer Nimmo at jnimmo@tscpa.net or call at 972-687-8652 or contact Jobie at panchap.cpas@wildblue.net

TSCPA ACTIONS FOR MEMBERS Membership Renewal is Even Easier
Continuing to receive exclusive members-only benefits is so easy! After April 15, TSCPA will send you an e-mail message with a link to a secure online dues renewal system. You can renew your membership, update your records, print a receipt, or if you prefer, print a statement to be mailed or faxed in with your payment. Watch your e-mail for more details.
Paper invoices will be mailed to members who have not provided an e-mail address or have asked to receive their dues statement by mail. To see whether we have your e-mail address on file, go to the My Membership area of the TSCPA Web site (tscpa.org), select Update My Records from the drop-down menu and log in.
MEMBERS' OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACTION TSCPA Awards
Do you know of a TSCPA member who has exhibited a strong commitment to the accounting profession? Does someone in your chapter make substantial service contributions to your community? Is the next Young CPA of the Year in your hometown?
Consider nominating a member for one of TSCPA’s service awards. Categories include Meritorious Service to the Accounting Profession in Texas, Distinguished Public Service, Honorary Fellow, Outstanding TSCPA Committee Chairman, Young CPA of the Year, and Honorary Member. Get details through the TSCPA Web site, at tscpa.org, or contact Melinda Bentley at TSCPA. (E-mail mbentley@tscpa.net; phone 800-428-0272 x 279 or 972-687-8579.)
The deadline for nominations is April 24.
Help Yourself to TSCPA Resources
The TSCPA Web site is a source for a wealth of information, much of it for members only. Are you taking advantage of all that’s available to you? Go to tscpa.org.
Pulling Back from the Brink
Tom was doing okay when the bottom fell out. He looked for the answer by hiding in the bottle or taking addictive drugs. Now he wants to stop and finds that he can’t. Tom is at the brink.
Give him the number for the Accountants Confidential Assistance Network: 866-766-ACAN (2226). We’re here to help.
