PRESIDENT'S LETTER
|
From the President
by Roger Haynes
Wow! As I write this newsletter we have just finished a crazy week and now start another that appears to be more unpredictable. Will 400 point swings in the market and 15% daily fluctuations in the price of oil become the new norm? Last week I thought $85 billion was a big number and now that figure almost seems like ancient history as they talk about $700 billion. I guess it is certain that the services of the CPA will still be in high demand to address more taxes and regulation which is likely to come.
Well, enough with that. The Chapter has started a busy fall with the 24th Annual Tax Institute last month which was a big success. Jennifer Eades and her Committee deserve a big “thank you” for their work in putting this together. Also, on September 5th we invited the local attorneys to our annual Chapter Golf Tournament preceded by a Luncheon CPE. We had 4 teams of attorneys join our 10 teams and had good participation at the luncheon CPE as well. Thanks to Kevin Nelson in coordinating such a great turnout with the attorneys and to Patrick Stanley for heading up the CPA end of the deal. ..
